October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Learn about UTC events planned by campus groups

“Take Back the Night,” an international rally and march organized to unify women, men, and children in an awareness of violence against women, children and families will be held October 10, UTC Amphitheatre at 9 p.m. This event is sponsored by The Transformation Project at UTC, Women’s Action Council, and UTC Women’s Studies Program.

“Someone’s Sister,” the rock and folk group formed by Georgia Winfree and Katherine Jones, will be featured at “Take Back the Night.”

Domestic Violence Awareness Month will also be recognized through The Clothesline Project, which provides a way to express feelings about violence against women. Everyone is encouraged to decorate a shirt to hang on a clothesline at the Campus Crossroads. The shirts will be on display October 10-11 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
